  what if by inheritance, winning the lottery or any other way, you suddenly got your hands on $150m after tax.

  you maybe would spend a third of this giving your extended family financial security for life.

  you maybe would buy a boat and a few investment properties.

  i am of the opinion most GB members would not accept the financial incentive.

  If you're looking for the surest and fastest way to influence Watchtower's future by spending 100 milliions bucks my opinion is to buy yourself a couple of GB members, if not more. That would do it.

  You have a different opinion. So what?

  They would rather die, as did their followers in Nazi Germany, Malawi etc.

  The then GB members were all doing things that JWs of the era were dying for. Watchtower's top leadership does not act like they ask their followers to act.

  The answer is easy: Offer each current member of the GB the sum of $10,000,000 to step aside as a GB member and write a memoir on their years as a GB member and that must be accompanied by documentation.

  Watchtower would be toast as we know it today. Over. Done with.

  Multiple GB members would jump on this cash train.

  camping humbly apologized for making predictions and gave it up declaring that he was searching scriptures to be more faithful.. anyway, he had a lot in common with wt belief that all other churches are apostate.

  i think the ministry is really struggling.

  Yes. They did.

  Today that audacity inspired me to be a little creative.

  These two special entities (Family Ministries, Inc. and Watchtower, Inc.) deserve a side by side comparison!

  bible prophecy did say israel / jews would be scattered then eventually brought back.

  russell was declaring that and it was believed before being changed shortly before it happened.

  the thought suddenly struck me plain and obvious: "these dogs won't stop until i'm good and bloody.".

  there were two of them; a mixed breed of boxer and pit bull; clean, white--collared, tagged and--for some inexplicable reason, ferociously intent on tearing me to shreds!.

  I must ride a bit faster then you, Terry. I had two come after me just today on a long ride. I sped up and kicked the shit out of the first one that got close enough for me to pile drive with my cleats. He left bloody and whining like a puppy.

  Seriously though, I'm glad you're okay and glad that you reported the incident to authorities. Terry's life matters!

  Advance Directives and the JW Patient

  advance directives are complex legal instruments and widely misunderstood by both physicians and their patients.

  with most jehovah's witnesses their is a significant level of misinformation, and in many cases coercion or undue influence exerted on the patient.

  physicians need to be aware of this and always meet privately with the patient to educate them and then ascertain their true wishes.

  Doctors are right to be concerned when an unconscious JW comes into the ER with a advance directive. Speaking with JW family members is seldom helpful.

  Indeed!

  In addition there is the problem of hopelessly incomplete Watchtower documents which do not address some rather important "fractions" that are accepted under its ridiculous blood taboo. One important component that JWs are free to accept is called cryo-poor plasma (also known as cryosupernatant). Nowhere does Watchtower speak to this blood product though it knows it has saved the life of many a JW.

  The right to shun - wrong?

  many people are understandably upset and angry at the notion that jws have the right to shun people.

  it seems such an obvious "no brainer" cruel and inhuman thing to do - it must be wrong ... surely?.

  of course we look at things from the perspective of those hurt and harmed by shunning.

  When it comes to shunning and potential statutory remedies to lessen harm there are two areas to concentrate on.

  1. The distinction of personal preference to shun versus organized communal shunning.

  2. Whether a particular shunning presents undue influence over something with a State interest.
